For the record, today is the second time I am not presiding the meeting with a reason that is personal. The first time was in the early part of the year when I had to be in Hongkong for a business and pleasure trip and today, I have to be in Manila for the death anniversary of my best friend. The rest were caused by the District Affairs we had to attend. I miss you all and I thank our Vice-President and President-Nominee Uwe Koeller for presiding in today’s meeting.
I regret I will not be able to listen to the Classification Talk of our dear Editor-in-Chief, Mark Flores. I have been looking forward to this. Thank you, EIC Mark for finally delivering your talk.
I would also like to thank the other Rotarians who have done their Classification Talks this Rotary Year, Rotarians Lani Fabi, Philip Marania, Bennie Laranang, Abe Estrada and Marcel Badua. It is good for the club to know you and what you do, better.
Today is our last Family Day in a regular meeting for this Rotary Year. Let me take the opportunity to invite our Anns to our Club Awards Night on June 23, 6pm at the Multi-Purpose Hall (only a small part of the hall…take note..) of the Baguio Country Club. Let’s celebrate with us as a family on this important occasion. You are special to us!
The year is almost ending but we still continue to serve our community. It is summer and it is the best time to have our young boys circumcised, thus, our Medical Mission Committee created the “Operation Tuli” at our Adopted-Barangay last May 19, Saturday which was a success.
Thanks to our Rotarian-doctors PP Veeh Balajo, Rtn. Jo Ursua and PP Diony Claridad and of course, our Partner-In-Service, the Rotaract Club of SLU School of Medicine. Other Rotarians present to support the project were Rtn. Lily Landayan, Rtn. Gary Lao-Ang, Rtn. Mariver Agayas, PE Libby Fernandez and PP Bert Talco.
I was surprised to find the President’s Corner of the May 12 Issue of the Canao so short and did not contain the copy I sent. Disappointed, I was, but I am comforted with the fact that we all make mistakes. Apologies accepted, EIC Mark. The good things you have contributed to the club are more than enough to compensate for this mistake.
Anyways, we had two Canaos last meeting. I just thought that my article should still be printed in this week’s edition, just the same.
Let’s congratulate one of the youngest Rotarian of our club, KARL FLORES for his HALL OF FAME AWARD for being an Outstanding Punong Barangay for three (3) consecutive years (Years 2008, 2009 & 2010). This is a yearly search of the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio.
We are proud of you, Karl! Keep up the good job.
May I remind all those who still have financial obligations to the club to please settle them soonest. Treas. David Rees is still out of the country but you may pay to PN Uwe Koeller. We need to close our books for this Rotary Year.
5 weeks left…
